About me

My Journey

Hello, I'm Sophie, a contour fashion student graduating in 2026. Specialising in intimate apparel and contour construction. My practice is grounded in strong trend research, precise CAD technical drawing, and an eye for refined detail throughout both creative and commercial projects. I’m adaptable in my approach, allowing me to design confidently across different markets while maintaining a clear commercial focus.

Studying Contour Fashion has given me a deep understanding of lingerie design, including bra grading, supportive structures, and how garments shape and enhance the body. This has strengthened my interest in pursuing a career in the fashion industry with a focus on lingerie and intimate apparel.

My Instagram account for contour fashion design is @belle.contour , where I document all my projects and processes. Such as design development, pattern cutting, pattern development, garment construction and much more!

Alongside my design work, I run a small Instagram styling account, @styled.bysophi. Where I explore current fashion trends, outfit building, and visual direction. Using social media influence, market research and WGSN for trend forecasting. This hobby helps me stay connected to fast-moving style conversations and continuously inspires my design perspective.

My goal is to create work that combines creativity with technical excellence — delivering designs that are thoughtful, functional, and industry-ready.

Styled by Sophie is something I started in 2022, during my first year studying fashion on my Level 3 Fashion & Textiles BTEC. At first, it was just a fun hobby — a place where I could play with styling without pressure. But it quickly became my creative outlet, somewhere I could explore my own interests and stay inspired even when college or uni projects required me to follow a commercial brief or adapt to someone else’s handwriting. It has a small following, but it’s always been the space where my personal style comes through the strongest.

Even now, while studying Contour Fashion, it’s still that safe creative outlet for me. When university work gets intense or too commercial, styling boards are where I reconnect with my own taste. It keeps my mind open and reminds me why I love fashion in the first place. Over time, it’s helped me build confidence in my eye for detail, trend awareness, and visual direction — but also just in myself.

Running the account taught me so much about trend research too. I use WGSN to forecast colours, silhouettes, and moods, and I love comparing that to what I see from brands I actually wear.

A huge part of my inspiration comes from the brands I love: Skims, Sisters & Seekers, Adanola, Lululemon, PrettyLittleThing, Zara, H&M, Dior, and Jimmy Choo. Each one influences my taste in different ways, from silhouettes and textures to branding and visual direction. I’m constantly analysing how they present themselves, what they represent, and how they evolve each season.

I also love comparing how these brands approach pricing, market level, and customer expectations. It’s helped me build a deeper understanding of the differences between luxury, mid-market, and high street — and how each one designs for its audience.

One thing I love most is creating styling boards that feel aspirational, but then finding affordable alternatives that actually fit my budget — and my followers’. It’s like building the outfit I wish I could afford, and then finding pieces that make it accessible. It’s helped me understand styling from both a creative and a consumer point of view.

What surprised me the most is how encouraging it’s been. Getting noticed by brands I genuinely love — like Sisters & Seekers and Finesse — made me realise that this little hobby of mine is actually shaping my confidence and direction within fashion. Even with a small following. It’s helped me with the way I research, design, and understand market levels, and it’s something I’ve carried with me into all areas of my degree.
